We would like to invite you to become a sponsor for our basketball tournament. In its Eighteenth year, the Lion’s Lizzy Haddon Invitational is a regional girls’ basketball tournament that draws teams from New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania to our area each May. We run a highly successful tournament with teams that faithfully return year after year. The Lizzy Haddon Invitational is a major fundraiser for the Haddonfield Lions Club, with all proceeds from the tournament benefiting the Blind Fund and Community projects.
Becoming a sponsor will not only enable you to help a worthy cause but give you a great opportunity to promote your business or product to the participants. Last year during tournament weekend, around 75 teams, comprised of girls ranging in age from 8 to 17, played round 300 games in eight area gyms. Since the girls brought along their parents, siblings, and even grandparents and friends to watch the games - we estimated that the tournament attracted over 2,500 people.
Because there is considerable “down time” between games, our sponsors benefit from these large crowds. Unlike other large tournaments, where teams fill this time sitting around gyms or driving from to game to game, we make sure they have something fun to do – including visiting your business or sampling your products. The Partnership for Haddonfield even sponsors special events, demonstrations, and entertainment to keep participants in the area, rather than heading back to their hotels between games. All our gyms are within 10 minutes of each other in Haddonfield and a few neighboring towns.
As a sponsor, your business name will be printed on the back of the official tournament tee shirt, which will be provided free to each player. The tee shirt is placed in a small shopping bag. (Last year we assembled 1,000 tee shirt bags.) Many sponsors like to include special “Tournament Weekend” coupons to encourage players to visit their establishment. New this year: All you have to do is email me your coupons and we will put them on our web page and email them to all the teams, this will save you printing cost. In addition, your business will be listed on the tournament website. In the months leading up to the tournament, coaches and families frequently visit our site to get registration information and directions, as well as lodging, shopping and dining recommendations. We will also provide a link to your business website, which we will leave up on the site all year long.
This year the tournament will be held on Saturday, April 30th, 2022 and Sunday, May 1, 2022. (This is the weekend before Mothers day) We are asking sponsors to make a commitment to participate by Friday, April 12, 2019 so that we can get the shirts designed and printed in time. Since sponsorships are available on a first come first served basis, we encourage you to submit the attached sponsorship form and $250 fee as soon as possible. The $250 fee will go into the Haddonfield Lions Foundation under Section 501 (c)(3). As a donor you can deduct your contributions under IRC section 170.
