Lions Hosting Open House – Want to Give Back to Your Community?
Haddonfield, NJ - The Lions Club of Haddonfield is hosting an Open House from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 18, at Tavistock Country Club, for anyone who might be interested in joining the volunteer organization.
The Club, which is part of the Lions International service organization, is seeking new members for our work in helping the visually impaired and many others in need. Our annual events include the Lions Flea Market in the fall, the Pasta Dinner, Mayor’s Breakfast, Pancake Breakfast, Beep Baseball for the blind and Target Holiday Shopping for the visually impaired. Other activities include the prom for senior citizens and events with the Haddonfield Memorial High School LEO Club, where more than 100 students participate in our volunteer work.
The Lions also raise money for numerous local organizations including groups that help the blind, schools, groups that provide glasses and eye exams, food banks and others that contribute to the community. We also provide hundreds of free eye exams each year and collect and distribute glasses.
What do local Lions say about their club? Former Haddonfield Mayor Jack Tarditi and a dedicated member for more than two decades said, "Haddonfield Lions is a wonderful organization with great folks helping our brothers and sisters with sight issues as well as aiding other charities in the area.”
"I've been a member of the Lions Club for almost three years and enjoyed every minute of it,” said Kevin Zelinsky, an executive with Remington and Vernick Engineers in Haddonfield. “The club goals and its theme, 'We Serve,' have great appeal for me, and the camaraderie I enjoy with fellow members in participating in fundraising events for the community bring me great pleasure."
