         International Network

The Lions Club of Haddonfield is one of more than 46,000 Lions Clubs in over 200 countries and geographic areas throughout the world. These clubs comprise “Lions International,” the International Association of Lions Clubs. Headquartered outside Chicago, it is the largest service organization in the world, with a total membership greater than 1.4 million. The organization’s monthly publication, The Lion, is printed in 15 languages.

The Haddonfield Club was chartered in April 1944, only 27 years after Lions began, with the formation of the first club in Chicago. The Haddonfield Lions Club, like all others, is an organization of good, solid citizens representing all walks of life. Such men and women of the community are potential members. The Lion’s Club provides its member the opportunity to meet and know other townspeople and work with them in an atmosphere of informality and good fellowship while providing service to others.

The social aspects of Lionism, although secondary, are very important. We like to have fun! The regular dinner meetings are held in a relaxed environment and feature joviality and camaraderie. They provide a welcome break from the pressures of everyday responsibilities and working schedules. Each year, three or four social events are scheduled (such as the Holiday Party or Mystery Bus Trip) which bring the members and their families together. Annual State and International Conventions provide opportunities for travel and to meet and work with Lions from other clubs and districts.

The Lions Club's most important mission is to serve the community and disadvantaged citizens. The  needs of the blind and those with failing eyesight receive the most attention.  However, all human problems and unfortunate circumstances are of concern to the Lions Slub, and can benefit from the combined strength and joint action of its members.
